現代アンビエント・シーンを代表するアーティストのひとり、The Vernon Springが、デビューアルバム『A Plane Over Woods』リリース5周年を記念したNew Editionとともに再来日が決定!!

ツアー唯一となるライブ・レコーディング・セッションを、東京・豊島区　季楽堂にて開催します。

The Vernon Springは、UK・ノースロンドン出身、現在はブライトンを拠点に活動するアーティスト／作曲家／ピアニスト／プロデューサー Sam Beste によるソロ・プロジェクト。

Sam Besteは、Amy Winehouseと同じノースロンドンで育ち、彼女のライブやレコーディングにもピアニストとして参加。

その後も、Matthew Herbert、MF DOOM、Kendrick Lamar、Laura Mvulaなど、ジャンルを越えて数多くのアーティストとの共演・プロデュースを手がけてきました。

その豊かなキャリアを経て生まれたThe Vernon Springは、ジャズ、アンビエント、ポスト・クラシカル、ヒップホップの感性を静かに溶け合わせ、“不完全さ”を美に変える瞑想的ピアニズム、音の余白に語りかけ、空間と沈黙を操る音の詩人。

その唯一無二の音楽で世界中から高い評価を集めています。

前回の来日では、Kendrick Lamarからの影響も色濃く反映した最新作『Under a Familiar Sun』を携え、日本各地で深い感動を呼びました。

今回は、2021年にインパートメントより国内盤がリリースされたデビューアルバム『A Plane Over Woods』の発売5周年を記念して制作されたNew Editionのリリース・ツアーとして、アルバムの世界観にフォーカスした内容で開催。

作品は、組曲のような流れを持ち、最初から最後まで通して聴くことで世界観が完成する構成になっています。静寂や余白を活かした楽曲が連なり、時間以上の深い没入感を与えてくれる作品です。

会場となる季楽堂は、樹齢数百年、高さ約30メートルのけやきをはじめ、多くの樹々が生い茂る武蔵野の森に静かに佇む、築150年を超える古民家。
森の気配や静寂、歴史ある建物が生み出す響きに惹かれたThe Vernon Spring本人の強い希望から、この特別な場所でのライブ・レコーディングが実現しました。

この公演は、ツアーの中で唯一のライブ・レコーディング・セッションとして開催されます。

森を吹き抜ける風、鳥のさえずり、歴史ある建物に響く残響、そしてその場に集う観客一人ひとりの息づかいまでもが、この作品の一部として刻まれます。

録音された演奏は、後日作品としてリリースされる予定です。

二度と同じ瞬間は訪れない、その日、その場所、その時間だけに生まれる音楽。

The Vernon Spring "A Plane Over Woods" Japan Tour 2026
Live Recording Session at KIRAKUDOW

One of the leading voices in today's contemporary ambient scene, The Vernon Spring returns to Japan to celebrate the 5th anniversary of his debut album A Plane Over Woods with the release of a special New Edition.

As part of the tour, a unique live recording session—the only one of its kind on the tour—will take place at KIRAKUDO in Toshima, Tokyo.

The Vernon Spring is the solo project of UK-born artist, composer, pianist, and producer Sam Beste, who was raised in North London and is now based in Brighton.

Growing up in the same North London neighborhood as Amy Winehouse, Sam later performed with her as a pianist both live and in the studio. He has since collaborated with and produced for a remarkable range of artists across genres, including Matthew Herbert, MF DOOM, Kendrick Lamar, and Laura Mvula.

Drawing on this rich musical background, The Vernon Spring has developed a singular musical language that quietly blends jazz, ambient, post-classical, and hip-hop.

His meditative piano playing transforms imperfection into beauty. A poet of sound, he speaks through silence, space, and resonance, creating deeply immersive musical landscapes unlike any other.

His unique artistic voice has earned widespread international acclaim.

On his previous visit to Japan, he captivated audiences across the country with Under a Familiar Sun, his latest album, whose subtle traces of Kendrick Lamar's influence helped make it one of the most celebrated releases of 2025.

This tour marks the release of the New Edition of A Plane Over Woods, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the album's original Japanese release by Inpartmaint in 2021. The performances will focus on the immersive world of the album itself.

Structured like a continuous suite, A Plane Over Woods reveals its full emotional depth when experienced from beginning to end. Its spacious arrangements, silence, and subtle textures create an experience that feels far greater than its running time.

The venue, KIRAKUDO, is a traditional Japanese house over 150 years old, nestled quietly within a lush Musashino woodland filled with ancient trees, including a magnificent zelkova tree that is several hundred years old and stands approximately 30 metres tall.

Captivated by the atmosphere of the forest, its stillness, and the unique resonance of this historic space, The Vernon Spring personally expressed a strong desire to perform here—leading to this special live recording session.

This performance will be the only live recording session of the tour.

Not only the music itself, but also the wind moving through the forest, the songs of birds, the natural reverberation of the historic building, and even the quiet presence and breathing of the audience will become part of the recording.

The performance is scheduled to be released as a live recording at a later date.

A moment that will never happen again.

Music that can only be created on this day, in this place, at this moment.

The Vernon Springは、UK・ノースロンドン出身、現在はブライトンを拠点に活動するアーティスト／作曲家／ピアニスト／プロデューサー Sam Besteによるソロ・プロジェクト。

幼少期より、父親が愛聴していたThelonious Monk、Bob Dylan、D'Angelo、Luigi Nonoなど幅広い音楽に親しみ、11歳で始めたピアノをきっかけに即興演奏へ傾倒。

その才能はやがてAmy Winehouseの目に留まり、彼女のキャリア絶頂期にはライブやレコーディングでピアニストを務めた。

その後も、Gabriels、Kendrick LamarのプロデューサーSounwave、Beth Orton、Kano、Joy Crookes、Matthew Herbert、MF DOOMなど、ジャンルを越えて数多くのアーティストとの共演・プロデュースを重ねる。また、オルタナティブ・ソウル・バンドHejiraでの活動を経て、クリエイティブ・コレクティブ／レーベルLima Limoの共同設立にも参加した。

2019年よりThe Vernon Springとして本格的なソロ活動を開始。

デビューEPをはじめ、『A Plane Over Woods』『Earth, On A Good Day』『Under a Familiar Sun』はいずれも高い評価を獲得。

The Vernon Spring

is the solo project of UK-born artist, composer, pianist, and producer Sam Beste, who was raised in North London and is now based in Brighton.

From an early age, he was immersed in a remarkably diverse musical world through his father's record collection, spanning Thelonious Monk, Bob Dylan, D'Angelo, and Luigi Nono. A chance encounter with the piano at the age of eleven sparked a lifelong passion for improvisation that would shape his musical path.

His talent soon brought him into the orbit of Amy Winehouse, with whom he performed as a pianist both live and in the studio throughout the height of her career.

He has since collaborated with and produced for a remarkable range of artists across genres, including Gabriels, Sounwave (producer for Kendrick Lamar), Beth Orton, Kano, Joy Crookes, Matthew Herbert, and MF DOOM. Following his work with the alternative soul band Hejira, he also co-founded the creative collective and record label Lima Limo.

In 2019, Sam Beste launched The Vernon Spring as his solo project.

His releases—including the debut EP, A Plane Over Woods, Earth, On A Good Day, and Under a Familiar Sun—have all received widespread critical acclaim.

Blending the sensibilities of jazz, ambient, post-classical, and hip-hop, The Vernon Spring creates meditative piano music that transforms imperfection into beauty.
